Protected Areas are important tools of management for a wildlife manager and nature conservationist. They play an important role in the protection and conservation of wildlife as well as nature. Protected areas are meant to preserve and rehabilitate threatened or endangered wildlife species in their natural habitats.
The number of Protected Areas notified in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa includes 6 national parks, 3 wildlife sanctuaries, 38 game reserves, 90 community game reserves, 16 private game reserves, 2 wildlife refuges and 8 wildlife parks. The combined area of all the Protected Areas is 666,340.368 hectare.
